1. AAAI Seeks Support From Government For Business Continuity

The Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) has sought help from the government to ensure business continuity in the wake of a major dip in business due to the Covid-19 crisis. In a letter addressed to minister of information and broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar, president of AAAI, Ashish Bhasin, has highlighted the importance of the advertising industry for the accelerated revival of the economy. As noted by The Economic Times, the association has requested an immediate clearance of the dues by the government, use of GST credits as well as relaxation in tax deducted at source (TDS) obligations.

2. Google Launches ‘Journalism Relief Fund’

Google has created a journalism emergency relief fund to provide support for local and small newsrooms on the frontline of covering the coronavirus pandemic. As reported by The Drum, Google said it would offer grants ranging from the “low thousands of dollars” for the smallest operations to “low tens of thousands for larger newsrooms.” Google, however, declined to reveal the amount of money in the relief fund and how much they will allocate to each publisher.

Maurice Lévy, former CEO of Publicis Groupe, has left WeWork just three months after taking on the role of interim chief marketing officer. This news comes a day after WeWork announced it laid off 19% of its staff. As per Adweek, Lévy joined WeWork in November 2019, following the departure of CMO Robin Daniels, and he left his post at the end of February.

4. Amazon Slashes Commission Rates For Affiliate Marketing Program

Amazon is cutting commission rates for its affiliate marketing program, according to an internal email obtained by CNBC. The e-commerce company allegedly said the rates can be slashed up to 50% and will apply as of 21 April 2020. Those in Amazon’s affiliate marketing program includes media organisations, other e-commerce players, as well as small-time retailers who receive a cut of revenue from a sale on Amazon’s products.

Paytm has appointed Vineet Arora as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Paytm General Insurance.
