1. Flipkart To Invest Rs 1,500 Crores in Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail

Walmart-owned Flipkart Group has announced that it will be investing Rs 1,500 crores for a 7.8% stake in Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL), through its investment vehicle, Flipkart Investments, according to livemint. Through this deal, Flipkart Group aims to strengthen the range of brands offered on its e-commerce platforms—Flipkart and Myntra—and deepen its relationship with ABFRL.

2. Facebook to Charge for Selected Services on Whatsapp Business

Facebook has announced that it will charge businesses for selected services on the WhatsApp Business app, as per exchange4media. The pricing details have not been revealed yet. Facebook said it will also add a shopping button on WhatsApp that will be functional in India later.

The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has come up with a framework for Covid-19 related advertising. As per The Drum, the move aims to provide necessary guard-rails, especially in the current vulnerable situation.

4. Instagram to Allow Brands to Create Product Tags

Instagram is now allowing brands to create product tags from scratch ahead of the holiday season. As per marketing interactive, the available formats for ads with product tags include photos, videos and carousels. Parent company, Facebook is also testing discount features which can allow brands to put products on sale, create offers that can be automatically applied or offer a discount on an item by letting customers apply a promo code.
