1. Google Plans To Turn YouTube Into A Shopping Destination

YouTube has recently started asking creators to tag and track products featured in their clips using YouTube software. The data will then be linked to analytics and shopping tools from parent Google. As per livemint, the goal is to convert YouTube’s videos into a vast catalog of items that viewers can click on and buy directly. The company is also testing a new integration with Shopify Inc. for selling items through YouTube.

Advertising and marketing industry veteran Dwipal Kumar (DK) Bose, has passed away. As reported by The Economic Times, Bose was a pioneer in the field of social marketing, having started the country’s first social marketing agency, Thomson Social. He was associated with several leading companies like Hindustan Thompson Associates, JWT Delhi, RKSwamy/BBDO, Ogilvy Outreach and more. Bose was also the founder trustee of the Centre for Advocacy and Research (CFAR) and a team member with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

3. Google Launches Playbook In Association With MightyHive

Google has launched a playbook titled “Google News Initiative APAC Data Lab” in an effort to work with the news industry to help journalism thrive in the digital age. Done in collaboration with S4 Capital’s MightyHive, the playbook seeks to empower publishers to make a case for a change in their organization. According to Marketing Interactive, the playbook will provide insights into how data science and analytics can help publishers improve their content planning, keep visitors on-site with better content recommendations and improve site revenue.
