1. LG Exits Global Smartphone Business

LG Electronics Inc. announced that it will exit its global smartphone business and halt mobile phone production and sales by 31 July 2021. As reported by livemint, LG’s overall phone business withered in the past six years or so. This move will allow LG to give priority to future growth drivers, such as electric-vehicle components and robotics, and focus on a home-appliances business that boomed during the pandemic.

2. Fernando Machado Joins Activision Blizzard as CMO

Former chief marketing officer at Restaurant Brands International Fernando Machado will be joining Activision Blizzard as chief marketing officer on 12 April 2021, according to The Economic Times. Activision Blizzard’s current CMO David Messinger will be moving on from his role, but will stay at the company to help with the transition. Activision Blizzard owns popular titles like Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and Candy Crush and claims to have more than 400 million players globally.

3. Usha International Partners with Mumbai Indians for 8th Year

Usha International continues its association with Mumbai Indians, as official partner for the eighth consecutive year. As part of the association, the Usha logo will be seen on the leading side caps and helmets of MI players and on the mat during specified match toss. As per exchange4media, the stadium will also have a massive LED wall, jumbo screens, and perimeter boards across the ground, which will play up the Usha brand at various points during the game.

4. Myntra Partners with RCB as Official Fashion Partner

Myntra has announced its association with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as its official fashion partner, for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. As part of this association, Myntra will create content stories with RCB through the lens of fashion, while also extending the association onto the Myntra app with various offerings. As reported by The Economic Times, Myntra and RCB will also create about 150 videos which will be released on RCB’s social channels.

Nykaa has appointed Shikha Johnson as AVP- Marketing and Communication. She will be responsible for the marketing and communications activities for the lifestyle retailer brand.
