1. BCCI Suspends IPL for This Season

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC), have decided to postpone the rest of the 2021 season of the IPL tournament, reports The Economic Times. The IPL kicked off on 9 April 2021 in India. BCCI said in a press statement that it “does not want to compromise on the safety of the players, support staff and the other participants involved in organising the IPL. This decision was taken keeping the safety, health and well-being of all the stakeholders in mind.”

2. Samsung Donates Rs 37 Crores for India’s Fight Against Covid-19

Samsung has pledged USD 5 million (INR 37 Crores) as its contribution to India’s fight against the current surge of Covid-19, providing donations to central and state governments, and boosting the healthcare sector with essential medical equipment for hospitals, as part of its citizenship initiatives. As per exchange4media, Samsung will also provide USD 2 million worth of medical supplies, including 100 Oxygen Concentrators, 3,000 Oxygen Cylinders and one million LDS syringes. These will be offered to the states of Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

3. MediaCom Appoints Shekhar Sharma & Averill Sequeria

MediaCom has appointed Shekhar Sharma and Averill Sequeria to its leadership team. As per campaign India, Sharma will take the role of managing partner (North & East), while Sequeria will be joining as the agency’s chief product officer. Prior to this, Sharma was vice president, platform services at GroupM and Sequeira held the role of general manager – planning, at Cheil India. In their current roles, Sharma will be responsible for the offices, clients, and growth, whereas Sequeira will lead ‘Seeing the Bigger Picture’ – a MediaCom Creative system, bringing together media and creativity.


4. Wondrlab Appoints Jateer Kore as Digital Head

Wondrlab has appointed Jateen Kore as its digital head. He will be based in Mumbai and will report to Rakesh Hinduja, co-founder and managing partner – content platform at Wondrlab. According to The Economic Times, Kore joins from IDFC First Bank where he was the head – digital marketing. At Wondrlab, Kore is tasked with setting up the digital practice and bringing forth Wondrlab’s platform-first approach to help brands win on digital.


5. Hyper Connect Asia Bags Digital Marketing Mandate for CEAT

Hyper Connect Asia has bagged the digital marketing mandate for CEAT Specialty, the tyre brand of RPG group. The agency will be responsible for the end-to-end digital marketing mandate of CEAT Specialty in Europe and India. As per The Economic Times, the brand partnership will primarily focus on the 360-degree digital communication of the OTR and Agriculture tyre categories of CEAT Specialty.
