Facebook Inc has changed its company name to Meta in a rebranding effort that focuses on building the “metaverse,” a shared virtual environment. As per CNN, the company plans to begin trading under the stock ticker “MVRS” on 1 December 2021. The name change comes as Facebook battles criticisms from lawmakers and regulators over its market power, algorithmic decisions and the policing of abuses on its services.
