1.Newspapers to be distributed in Mumbai April 1 onwards

Newspapers will be published and distributed from April 1, 2020, in Mumbai, according to the discussion between Maharashtra Industries Minister Subhash Desai and newspaper hawkers and publishers, as reported by exchange4media. All print media houses in Mumbai suspended publishing and distributing their print editions from Monday. Earlier MIB directed all states, union territories to ensure the smooth functioning of print and electronic media with the coronavirus epidemic looming over the country.

2.Events and entertainment industry hit 60 mn livelihoods due to COVID-19 epidemic

The Events and Entertainment Management Association has sent out an SOS signal to the government seeking urgent intervention according to PTI. Seen on Economic Times, the association claims that of the 60 million staff, 10 million have been directly impacted, and their livelihood is at risk as all major national events are postponed or cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Losses for the first two months have crossed Rs 3000 crores, the association said.

In March, e-commerce as a platform was heavily utilised since some of these supplies became unavailable at retail stores.

MX Player, the OTT platform from Times Internet, expands to international markets like the U.S. and the UK according to TechCrunch. Apart from these two countries it has ventured into Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Nepal. The ad-supported streaming service is offering locally relevant content in each market.

5.Unilever might support smaller agencies with early payment

Unilever will consider providing early payment to agencies and other small and mid-sized suppliers that may be struggling with financial liquidity, as reported by Campaign Live. This is part of a range of measures designed to help fight against the health and economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. Its spokesperson stated of deploying a range of financial-support mechanisms that ‘best support the particular needs’ of their most ‘vulnerable suppliers on a case-by-case basis.’ Unilever also plans to extend credit to selected small-scale retailers that rely on them for their business.
