1. Facebook Announces Plan to Invest $1 billion to Support News Industry

Facebook has announced that it plans to invest $1 billion in over three years to support the news industry. This comes after its row with the Australian government over its newly-passed content laws. In a blogpost, Nick Clegg, VP of Global Affairs wrote that Facebook has “invested $600 million since 2018 to support the news industry, and plan at least $1 billion more over the next three years.” In October last year, Google had also donated $1 billion towards the same cause.

2. Sony Music India Appoints Sangeetha Aiyer as Director of Promotions

Sony Music India (SMI) has appointed Sangeetha Aiyer as Director of Promotions. Aiyer will lead SMI’s promotions strategy and activities across all media channels, amplifying SMI’s content and artists across International, Bollywood, Pop & North repertoires and optimizing promotions platforms, grassroots initiatives and partnerships. As per exchange4media, she will report directly to Rajat Kakar, Managing Director of Sony Music India.

3. Mondelez International Promotes Nikhil Rao to Senior Director, Marketing for Southeast Asia

Mondelez International has promoted Nikhil Rao to the role of senior director of marketing for Southeast Asia, after two years of helming the role of regional marketing director, biscuits, cakes and snacks for Southeast Asia. In his new role, Rao will lead a team of more than 100 individuals across all categories – biscuits, chocolate, gum, candy, powdered beverages and meals. As per marketing interactive, he will also be responsible for the entire marketing process from consumer insights, strategy, brand equity and activation.


4. Zenith India Appoints Ramsai Panchapakesan as National Buying Head

Zenith India has appointed Ramsai Panchapakesan as the national buying head. He will be in charge of the company’s pan-India media operations, working within Publicis Media’s investment practice, PMX, to leverage scale and clout in the local marketplace. As per The Economic Times, Ramsai was an agency trading lead for m/SIX and also operated as principal partner – the exchange lead (north & east) at Mindshare.

5. Levi’s Appoints Deepika Padukone as Global Brand Ambassador

Levi’s has appointed Deepika Padukone as its global brand ambassador. According to livemint, Padukone is the first female celebrity to become the face of the brand in India. She will be seen spearheading the new campaign focused on a new range of fashion fits from Levi’s.
