1. Publicis Worldwide Shuts One Of Its Bengaluru Divisions

Publicis Worldwide has shut operations at one of its two divisions in Bengaluru. As noted by exchange4media, the division has been discontinued because clients were getting most of their work done out of other centres like Mumbai. As per the agency, the other division in Bangalore will remain operational.

2. Hill+Knowlton Strategies Appoints Abhishek Gulyani as CEO

Global PR agency, Hill+Knowlton Strategies has appointed Abhishek Gulyani as chief executive officer in India.  According to Campaign India, Gulyani will lead the agency’s offices in Bengaluru, Gurugram and Mumbai. He moves from Avian PR and takes over the mandate from Kavita Rao, who exited the agency last year.

3. MediaCom Bags Duracell’s Global Media Planning And Buying Account

WPP’s MediaCom has won Duracell’s global media planning and buying account, worth as much as €100m, after a competitive pitch. As reported by The Economic Times, the agency will handle Duracell in 32 markets, including India, China, the UK and the US. MediaCom will take over duties on 1 July 2020. Publicis Media’s Starcom was the incumbent agency.

4. Uber Launches ‘Uber Connect’

Uber India has entered the person to person (P2P) on-demand delivery segment, with ‘Uber Connect’. The newly launched service will pick and drop ‘essentials’ and other non-prohibited commodities from one customer to another. Other players in this space include Dunzo, Rapido and Swiggy. As per afaqs, Uber is currently piloting the ‘Uber Connect’ service in four cities such as Kolkata, Jaipur, Guwahati and Gurugram. Last month, Uber also launched ‘UberMedic’, a service providing transportation to doctors and nurses from their homes to hospitals and vice versa.

5. Amazon Adds Free Tab To Fire TV Navigation Bar

Amazon is adding a new “free” tab to the main Fire TV navigation bar. In this section, users will be able to browse content that can be viewed at no charge, apart from dealing with ads. This new feature allows users to stream TV shows and movies for free without any subscriptions. As mentioned by The Verge, Amazon will refresh the free tab regularly with new content and themes.
