1. P&G Hikes Its Annual Advertising Expense By 8.5%

Procter & Gamble has hiked its annual advertising expense by $575m or 8.5% to $7.33bn in the year to June 2020, its annual report showed. As noted by campaign live, this is the company’s first annual increase since 2016. P&G’s net sales rose 6% on an organic basis in the most recent financial year. Its annual adspend now stands at its highest level since 2014.

Parle Agro has filed a legal action against Walmart India for allegedly selling an apple drink with ‘deceptively similar mark’ as its Appy Fizz. In an interim order, the court has restrained Walmart from selling any product allegedly similar to the petitioner’s product until further order. As reported by The Economic Times, Parle Agro has claimed that Walmart India was manufacturing, marketing, selling and promoting an apple drink, ‘Fizzy Apple’, using identical font, style and colour scheme similar to Appy Fizz.
